Spring comes earlier for a diligent man. Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health (GIBH), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is about to open a new chapter and embark on a new journey!
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 21st anniversary of GIBH's establishment. We have achieved significant breakthroughs in new drug development, stem cell research and therapy, gene editing, organ xenotransplantation, infection and immunity, biomedical engineering, among others. Our contributions to China's biomedical and health industries are immense, particularly in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. These achievements are a result of our colleagues' continuous exploration and unwavering efforts as well as the previous leadership teams' responsibilities and hard work. They have laid a strong foundation for GIBH's future growth and success. The new leadership team would like to express sincere gratitude to all employees, retired comrades, as well as friends from various sectors who care about and support GIBH's development.
Looking ahead to the future, we will establish a scientific research culture that is characterized by rigor, realism, pragmatism, unity and cooperation. We will foster an environment that encourages innovation and dares to pursue breakthroughs. We will also build a world-class scientific research platform. Seizing the opportunity from the construction of the Human Cell Lineage Atlas Facility and starting with the reorganization of National Key Laboratories, we will continuously optimize our disciplinary layout to focus on cutting-edge scientific questions, improve and innovate our scientific research system and mechanisms, strengthen our existing advantages while exploring new racing avenues, and then build up the unique disciplinary characteristics and strengths of our institute by striving for excellence in science.
We will make concerted efforts to recruit top and exceptional talents, enhance the cultivation and promotion of our young talents, train our team through the execution of major projects, enabling every member in our institutes to excel, thrive, grow, and achieve success. In conjunction with successfully completing construction of the Human Cell Lineage Atlas Facility and accomplishing significant national research projects, we will establish an outstanding research team characterized by a scientific framework, appropriate scale, and remarkable research capabilities.
We will enhance our international cooperation, fully leverage industrial resources, explore innovative mechanisms, and expedite the high-quality translation of our scientific research achievements to make significant contributions to the biomedicine and health industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Additionally, we will host a series of international academic events across various platforms, propose international scientific programs and alliances with the goal of establishing GIBH as a world-class institute.
