Date:Nov 12, 2013

Dr. Marv Meyers and David Griggs from Saint Louis University's (SLU) Center for World Health and Medicine visited GIBH on November 4th to the 8th. During their visit they met with fellow project team members at GIBH and discussed the strategy forward in 2014. Recently, both GIBH and SLU received the prestigious NIH/NSFC collaborative grant for developing new agents for treating malaria. The joint research project is slated to receive more than $1 million in funding over the next three years.  In addition, both Marv and Dave gave presentations on additional ongoing studies in their labs and discussed new projects to work on together outside of malaria.  The meeting was hosted by Micky Tortorella, head of the Drug Discovery Center and Dr. Xiaoping Chen, director of the Institute of Infectious Disease at GIBH.
