The 2013 undergraduate summer camp “Walk into GIBH” was concluded successfully

The 2013 undergraduate summer camp “Walk into GIBH” was jointly organized by CAS Guangzhou educational base and GIBH from the 8th to 14th of July,52 outstanding students from 25 top tier universities were selected to attend this event.

A variety of academic activities were organized during this event. By visiting GIBH, the students were able to have face to face dialogues with the scientists at GIBH and to experience in person how significant scientific research could be. During the course of the summer camp, several prominent academic lectures were held which greatly expanded the horizons of the students’ knowledge. Among which, the two keynote lectures were extremely well received by the students. One of the lectures which entitled “Perceptual human being and active practice” was given by Prof Shizhuang Ma who is the vice-chancellor of the University of Chinese Academy of Science (UCAS), and the other which entitled “Make your life more brilliant” was given by Prof Suixiang Gao from UCAS. Both keynote lectures have greatly expanded the students’ perspectives and deeply enlightened them. Towards the end of the summer camp, such activities as a friendship badminton match and a tour of Guangzhou were organized by GIBH.

This year’s summer camp was greatly supported by the UCAS, which aimed at enhancing the students’ knowledge of UCAS and the affiliated institutions of CAS. After the summer camp, many students are very looking forward to applying for postgraduate educational programs at CAS and hoping to become a member of this big family very soon.
