Concluding summary meeting for “novel vaccine and drug research on AIDS and viral hepatitis” was held at GIBH
On the 5th of January 2013, the concluding summary meeting for “novel vaccine and drug research on AIDS and viral hepatitis” was held at GIBH. “Novel vaccine and drug research on AIDS and viral hepatitis” was one of the major projects of the knowledge innovation project in China. The meeting was chaired by Prof Yuzhang Wu (The Third Military Medical University) and Prof Xinwen Chen (Wuhan Institute of Virus, CAS). Prof Duanqing Pei (Director of GIBH) warmly welcomed all the scientists who participated in the meeting and thanked the entire project team for their long-term support to this project.
Many top institutes across China were involved in the “Novel vaccine and drug research on AIDS and viral hepatitis” project, such as the Institute of Biophysics, GIBH, Shanghai Institute of Medicine, Wuhan Institute of Virus, Shanghai Institute of Pasteur, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Institute of Microorganisms, and Kunming Institute of Zoology etc. The goal of the project is to develop vaccine and drugs to treat AIDS and viral hepatitis. The project has lasted for four years and made remarkable achievements in this field. The project is funded by the National Major project and the 973 project. In addition, it has helped to train a large group of leading young scientists. Members of the project expert group have listened attentively to the summary reports from Prof Hong Tang, Prof Xiaoping Chen, Prof Ling Chen, Prof Rongge Yang and Prof Jianping Zuo, and carefully reviewed the documents and data related to the project. After discussion, all members of the project expert group are very pleased and satisfied with the work done in this project.
This meeting was attended by scientists and scholars from all over China. After the meeting, the experts and the scientists had in depth discussion regarding the project and future cooperation.
