Prof. Chen Chen from University of Queensland Visits GIBH

Prof. Chen Chen from University of Queensland visited GIBH, and gave a seminar on the afternoon of October 8th, 2012. His presentation was entitled “The relationship between growth hormone and metabolic age”. Dr. Miguel A. Esteban from the South China Institute of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine at GIBH hosted the seminar.

Prof. Chen Chen introduced discovery of growth hormone’ function on metabolic balance and body mass composition. His research team developed supersensitive hormone assay method to clarify growth hormone pulsatile profile in mouse. They did a series of work on regulation of this hormone profiles using transgenic mouse models. Hopefully to find effective way to therapeutically correct growth hormone and insulin deficiency in treating obesity and diabetes.

After the seminar, Prof. Chen Chen had in-depth discussion with researchers at GIBH.
