Deputy Health Minister Liu Qian Visited GIBH

On November 10th 2011, GIBH was visited by Deputy Minister of Health Mr. Liu Qian, Director of Science and Education Division Mr. He Wei, and Deputy Director of Biotechnology Development Center Mr. Jia Feng. During his visits to GIBH, the Minister was accompanied by Deputy Inspector of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Department Mr. Yao Huarong and Deputy Director of Guangzhou Development Zone Mr. Cai Gangqiang.

Director Pei Duanqing of GIBH gave a report to the minister regarding talents recruitment, scientific achievements and commercialization of intellectual properties; especially focusing on the development of Drug Discovery Pipeline (DDP) at GIBH as well as the latest drug development progresses at DDP.

The Minister was happy by the innovation achieved in the areas of stem cell and regenerative medicine research, as well as progresses in drug development, talents recruitment and training at GIBH. In addition, the Minister appreciated the development of anti-Alzheimer and anti-leukemia drugs at DDP. He also supported the directions of DDP which are focusing on common illnesses and incurable diseases. Furthermore, the Minister stressed that GIBH has built good research and development teams, demonstrated enormous potential and vitality at GIBH. He hopes that GIBH will continue to recruit more talents and make greater achievements in solving health problems.
