A Breakthrough - Vitamin C Open up a New Chapter in induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) Study
Cell Stem Cell on-line published an article “Vitamin C Enhances the Generation of Mouse and Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell” at 24th December, 2009.
To accelerate the generation efficiency of iPSC, Authur of this article Prof. PEI Duanqing and his team combined defined factors for the first time and elucidated the role of Vitamin C (Vc) in promoting transformation rate of pre-iPSC into pluripotent iPSC .
This finding became the cover story of the latest issue of Cell Stem Cell of year 2010. Cell Stem Cell is the official affiliated journal of International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR).
Dr. Kwang-Soo Kim from Harvard Medical School quoted “I believe this finding made a huge contribution to global stem cell study”. This achievement explored a much simpler method to speed up iPSC production, which sheds light on a much thorough understanding of reprogramming mechanism.
