Dr. Ling CHEN Selected into the Guangdong Province Expert Database for Public Emergency Management

 Director General Dr. Ling CHEN of GIBH was recently selected into the Guangdong Province Expert Database for Public Emergency Management.

The Guangdong Province Expert Database as well as the Expert Team were established by the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Provincial Emergency Management Committee on Aug. 10, 2007, in the effort to bring together a unique alliance of professionals of extensive areas, to increase expert participation in decision-making for disaster preparedness, and improve the government response capability to abrupt public emergencies.

The database membership is comprised of 134 experts including three Fellows of Chinese Academy of Engineering, in such five major domains as natural disasters, calamity accidents, public health, social security and comprehensive management, under which 26 subdomains were created. The members were selected from 673 candidates recommended by 89 institutions and organizations all over the province. Seven professors from Guangzhou Branch, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Guangdong Academy of Sciences were selected into the Database.  Dr. Ling CHEN was appointed for the domain of public health.
