Research Areas

In recent years, Dr Chen’s research team has the following achievements: 1) showed heterochromatin loosening mediated by Oct4 in early stage of iPSC reprogramming, and identified heterochromatin looseners such as Gadd45a and Mkk6, which can relax heterochromatin in different patterns during reprogramming. 2) proposed a new concept of “epigenome-metabolome-epigenome” cascade mediated by Glis1 during pluripotency acquisition. 3) revealed the cooperation between lipid droplets and mitochondria regulates pluripotency by maintaining Molecular mechanism of lipid droplet mitochondrial interaction to maintain fatty acid oxidation and histone acetylation.
