Dr. Jian-Hua Wang is a Professor in Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health (GIBH), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Before joining GIBH, Dr. Wang was a Professor/Principal Investigator at the Institute Pasteur of Shanghai, CAS. The research field of Dr. Wang is the interaction of virus-host to understand viral pathogenesis: 1) Host modulation of HIV-1 latency, and antiviral drug development; 2) Uncovering immune-pathogenesis by studying the acute viral infection-induced hyper-inflammation. He has published over 100 manuscripts in peer reviewed journals including Signal Transduct Target Ther, Nucleic Acids Res, mBio(3), J Med Chem (2), and J Virol (6), etc.
Targeting the key and fundamental scientific questions in HIV/AIDS field, Wang`s lab focuses on: 1) to reveal the novel mechanism of HIV transmission in acute infection; 2) to reveal mechanism of the establishment, maintenance and reactivation of HIV latency; 3) to develop therapeutic approaches for latency eradication. Regarding to the emerging viruses, Wang`s lab extends to uncover the invasion mechanisms, and viral pathogenesis, and develop strategies for prevention and control. The main achievements include:
1. Uncovering the new mechanisms for HIV/retrovirus mucosal invasion, and develop new strategies for prevention;
2. Identifying the key host factors that modulates HIV-1 transmission, replication and latency, which provides potential targets for therapy.
3. He has published more than 50 scientific papers in journals, such as NUCLEIC ACID RES., MBIO, J VIROLOGY, etc.
