The Chinese New Year is around the corner. On January 25, 5 GIBH scientists visited the town of Woshui, located in Liannan Yao Autonomous County, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, which is bustling with on-holiday children and adults. They set up movable science labs in the town square with microscopes and various chemical reagents, and taught the children to do experiments on the spot.

"How will the color change when some baking soda and lemonade are added to the purple cabbage juice?" JIANG Hao, an associate researcher, asked while demonstrating to the children the acid-base neutralization. FANG Yuhan, in the third grade of primary school, was eager to have a try because there are not many opportunities to do experiments herself due to the limited conditions in her school despite her long-term interest in science. This time, she got to do experiments about the Dead Sea, carbonated beverages and blood cells.

In addition to experiments, GIBH scientists gave presentations on the prevention of infectious diseases.

The town will see more scientists from GIBH in the coming years for the Three-Year Scientific Education Plan designed by both sides.
