Overview

The laboratory focuses on people's health. It analyzes the immune response characteristics of innate immune cells like natural killer cells in the disease microenvironment, develops technologies to overcome microenvironmental barriers, creates innovative drugs and clinical protocols, and builds an international top-notch talent cultivation base.

Research

The laboratory has three research directions:
1. Immune response regional characteristics and microenvironment barrier mechanisms.
2. Technologies to break through microenvironment barriers.
3. Immunotherapy strategies to eliminate microenvironment barriers.

The laboratory aims to build a world-class immunotherapy innovation platform covering the whole chain of “basic theory - core technology - drug discovery - clinical research". It pursues innovation theories on immune response and efficacy in the disease microenvironment, establishes a new paradigm for immune drug design, produces innovative drugs, and forms the "Chinese solution" for immunotherapy of major diseases. The laboratory members have won several national and provincial awards.

Resources

The laboratory located in the Life Science Research Building on the west campus of USTC. It relies on the USTC Life Science Experimental Center and has built a high-level experimental animal center, a gene drug development and testing center, and a biomedical pilot-scale technology R&D center, providing excellent research facilities and technical support.

History

The laboratory was officially approved for construction by the Chinese Academy of Sciences on February 5, 2024. It consists of three research departments: Basic Theory, Frontier Technology, and Drug and Clinical Research.
