Research Areas

Dr. Zhang’s research areas have been focused on: 1) new methodology development and process development for important molecules; 2) novel nucleoside analogs based antiviral agents especially for emerging viruses such as influenza, dengue virus, and Zika virus; 3) novel immuno modulating agents for cancer and chronic viral infections.

Academic Performance

Have been engaged in new synthetic methodology development in areas of asymmetric syntheses, radical based annulation and cyclization reactions, diazo based cyclizations, as well as natural product syntheses. Have extensive exprience in the area of novel antiviral and anticancer nucleoside analogs design and syntheses as well as oligonucleotide analog based drug development. In the last few years, several new molecule entities invented for HCV，IPF, ancer and influenza have been in various phase of clinical trials in both China and the US .
