Prof. Allan Bradley from The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute visits GIBH

Professor Allan Bradley, FRS., FMedSci, director Emeritus of The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Cambridge, visited GIBH on March 1st, 2013, and presented a seminar entitled “Extreme Genome Engineering: Humanising the mouse immunoglobulin loci ”.  Dr. Daiguan Yu from Drug Discovery Pipeline (DDP) of GIBH hosted this visit.

Professor Bradley's research was focus on discovering new genes related to human diseases and gene function studies using transgenic and knockout technologies. He has made remarkable contribution to this research field over the past 30 years. His pioneer work in 1984 on embryonic stem (ES) cell transmission through the germ line of mice contributed to the award of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Dr. Martin Evans in 2007. For recent years, Professor Bradley is focusing on development of antibody-humanized mice using a new technology.

After his seminar, Prof. Bradley had in-depth discussion with CTO Micky Tortorella and the participants regarding the presentations and future collaborations.
