GIBH mini supercomputer platform

Currently, GIBH mini supercomputer platform is equipped with a Dawning server, a TC2600 blade server (Sugon) which comprises six CB85-F blades. Among of the six blades, 1-4 blades are dedicated to the high-performance computing. The system has a total peak performance up to 1.2T flops, plus 192GB memory and 10TB storage.

A diagram of the system is shown as followed:

The TC2600 blade server is the third generation of Dual/Quad-core blade server product developed by Sugon. It is a high-performance next-generation server product, with superior performance compared to the traditional rack servers such as high stability, high availability, high scalability and high density. It provides a simple to use, more advanced computing performance. It provides an easy way to deploy a full range of monitoring and management systems. TC2600 blade server is an ideal platform to meet the demand for high performance computation.

GIBH mini supercomputer platform has a full range of computational biology software installed. Discovery Studio 3.0, one of the main stream software packages for drug discovery, is set up and fully tested in this platform. Discovery Studio 3.0 is a software suite of life science molecular design solutions for computational chemists and computational biologists. Discovery Studio makes it easier to examine the properties of large and small molecules, identify drug leads and optimize drug candidates.

With Discovery Studio we can:

Drive the drug discovery process from target identification, lead identification to lead optimization with a wealth of life science modeling and simulation tools;
Investigate and test hypotheses in silico prior to the costly experiments;
Leverage an open and scalable platform to automate processes, create and deploy custom workflows, and integrate data types, databases, and third-party or in-house tools;
Enhance personal productivity and boost team collaboration by enabling researchers to share data and make better informed decisions;
